While on my retreat in Hawaii, Rachel Hadiashar wanted to do a Dorky Tourist shoot on the beach. She coordinated the models and had a clear vision. I'm usually not one to want to think of something like this for my own photography... but she invited both Marina and I to come along on the shoot and it was fun!
Here are some of the shots I got of the models... This entire session was shot along the shores of Waikiki in Hawaii - a place that is very populated and patrolled. We were breaking a few rules by doing this session...
Concept shooting really isn't my thing. I worked for so long in an advertising agency setting and all I had to do was come up with concepts. I am all concept-ed out! The idea of getting models, a location and a theme all together to get just a few good shots isn't something I'd like to spend my precious time on. I would however like to use REAL couples in unique "concept-y" locations.
Here are some ideas I have for a location concept:
Fishing Boat
Laundromat
Grocery Store
Dusty Attic
Amusement Park
Movie Theatre
While working with this couple I fell in love with the vintage beauty of SamiJo. I pulled her aside at the end of the session and did a few beach side pin-up girl shots with her. Boudoir had been something I've been putting a lot of emphasis on this year and it was great to do a session on the fly! It was really great - even with the entire population of Waikiki watching! Check out the rad tanned surfer dude in the background of all SamiJo's close-ups!
Enjoy!
